In the early years, small gear ratios were preferred. To achieve this, two or three chainrings were used. A 5-speed was introduced in 2020 with the ST2 Belt. From 2022, the number of gears increased again to up to 12 gears and 600 % gear range (spread) with the use of the Pinion \u201aC-Line\u2019 transmission line. In between, the tried and tested \u201a52T\/11-42T\u2018 can be found on the later ST2, the ST2S \/ ST3 \/ ST5, which are equipped with a 52 chainring and an 11-speed cassette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"4e13260d-003e-441c-bb50-70166d1c6023\">The gear ratio offered together with the respective tire circumference and the pedaling cadence (cadence) results in the respective achievable speed. The correlations can be seen in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.j-berkemeier.de\/Ritzelrechner.html?kb=52+rz=46,37,32,28,24,21,19,17,15,13,11+tf=72+dtf=5+ru=221+vr=0,0+ge=true+rt=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pinion calculator<\/a>&nbsp;be calculated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"44200851-4af3-47d9-9923-f10460a09f8c\">Here in the example I show the calculations for my converted cassette (from 42 to 46T) on the ST3. Instead of the 11-42T you can fit an 11-46T. These are available from Shimano, for example. On my ST3 I have the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bike-discount.de\/de\/shimano-xt-cs-m8000-11-fach-kassette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shimano Deore XT CS-M8000 cassette&nbsp;<\/a>11-fold \/&nbsp;<strong>46T&nbsp;<\/strong>installed. The conversion is simple. The setting of the B-screw on the changer must be readjusted, but the chain itself does not need to be adjusted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"25f0e3dd-c841-441d-b942-1a9d52449663\">Conversion - ST2 (newer models) \/ ST3-, ST5 with Gossamer 52T chainring<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"59294207-70ef-45de-bd94-0841508d9935\">There are two ways to reduce the cadence. Replace the chainring with a larger one or change the cassette to a 10-speed sprocket.<br><br>Since no 10-tooth sprockets are available for the installed Shimano 11-42 cassettes, this option is eliminated. The chainring remains. Stromer uses a Gossamer 52T chainring with narrow\/wide teeth. This can be replaced with one with more teeth. It should be noted that the chain guard must also be replaced if you go beyond 56 teeth. The chain length would also need to be adjusted. A good compromise would be, for example, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bike-components.de\/de\/TA\/Kettenblatt-Alize-5-Arm-aussen-130-mm-Lochkreis-p15390\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ALIZE 5-ARM<\/a>**external - 130 mm bolt circle - 56 teeth. The rear might be possible.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/vaust.com\/Fahrradteile\/Riemenantrieb-Gates\/CDX\/Riemenscheiben-hinten\/701\/Gates-Carbon-Drive-CDX-9-Spline-20-Zaehne-Shimano-Freilauf-Riemenscheibe-hinten\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">20T<\/a>(or 19T), but the rhyme would probably have to be adapted?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"86aa6833-c1f2-496b-b6c1-f8d8fc9b27b9\">The unfolding increases from 12.2 m to 13.5 m (20T) or 14.2 m (19T). With the standard configuration, the cadence at 45 km\/h is&nbsp;<strong>61<\/strong>, at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ritzelrechner.de\/?GR=P19X&amp;KB=39&amp;RZ=19&amp;UF=2215&amp;TF=53&amp;SL=2.6&amp;UN=KMH&amp;DV=speed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">20T,&nbsp;<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ritzelrechner.de\/?GR=P19X&amp;KB=39&amp;RZ=19&amp;UF=2215&amp;TF=53&amp;SL=2.6&amp;UN=KMH&amp;DV=speed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>56<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;and with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ritzelrechner.de\/?GR=P19X&amp;KB=39&amp;RZ=19&amp;UF=2215&amp;TF=53&amp;SL=2.6&amp;UN=KMH&amp;DV=speed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">19T,&nbsp;<\/a><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ritzelrechner.de\/?GR=P19X&amp;KB=39&amp;RZ=19&amp;UF=2215&amp;TF=53&amp;SL=2.6&amp;UN=KMH&amp;DV=speed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">53<\/a><\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"32ba06e3-7a10-4108-b562-4dc29bc6956f\">IMHO 61 is very low.
