In 2022, the TCS and ADAC examined the advantages and disadvantages of towbars on the tailgate and on the roof. The most advantageous system was clearly that of the bicycle carrier on the trailer coupling. This was the easiest to use, had by far the lowest additional fuel consumption and was also the safest transport system. According to research, the towbar carrier category is also the most relevant to the market for the largest manufacturers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For these reasons, 15 bike carriers for mounting on the towbar were compared and tested in 2025. The experts from TCS and ADAC tested and evaluated, among other things, how easy the carriers are to mount, how easily bikes can be secured and the value of the models.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
