After various corrosion problems with PCB-based distribution boards (ST1x \/ ST2 \/ ST2S and early ST5), the new boards are placed in the handlebar tube in molded form.<\/p>\n\n\n

There is not a lot of space there and the cables have little room to maneuver. If everything is not optimally routed, cables can be damaged either in the feed-through to the stem, the handlebars (button ring \/ brake lever) or to the omni in the event of extreme handlebar deflection. The damage (here on an ST3) ranges from crushed to torn.<\/p>\n\n\n

An initial check of the cables can be carried out via the screwed-on daytime running light. Unfortunately, not all cables are visible as long as the fork is not removed.<\/p>\n\n\n

Stromer offers an upgrade for the ST5 in which the distribution in the stem is removed and replaced by new cabling.
