Wear and tear and service life of components
Factors
The mileage of wearing parts such as brake discs, brake pads, chains, belts and tires depends on various parameters:
- Driving style
- Route profile
- System weight
- Using recuperation (button ring) and setting the brake sensor
- Use of the bike as a "fair-weather" or "all-weather" bike
- Care
- It is impossible to make a general statement as the parameters are too individual
Own experiences
Experience with my ST3 (as of Feb. 2025, 34,010 km):
- Chain: KMC e11 EPT - approx. 10'000 - 11'000 km (oiled after approx. 500-1'000 km)
- Sprocket 11, ditto chain, 13 etc. as required
- Tires: Pirelli Cycle-e ST: changed:
- In front: after 28,353 km
- Rear: after 15,000 km (no flat tires so far)
- Brake pads: (hilly terrain, recuperation used, brake sensor 100%)
- Rear: SwissStop since 29'710 km, still good *
- front: TopBrake since 20'613 km, still good *
- Brake disks: Original
- Front wheel bearing: 28'353 km
- Freewheel: Original
- Bottom bracket: 34'010 km
- BQ983 battery: 21,000 km until SoH 74% was reached
* Replaced at 4,300 or 13,487 km due to squeaking
