When you press EJECT on models with an electromagnetic ejection mechanism, you must hear a click. The ejection mechanism, the so-called front base, is then unlocked, and the battery can be ejected using the eject button. If you do not hear a click, there is an electrical problem. If you press the eject button after hearing the click and nothing happens, there can be two reasons:
- In rare cases, the ejection lever of the battery compartment release mechanism is broken. This part is not available individually; the entire release mechanism – the so-called. Frontbase – to be replaced.
- The battery is stuck in its compartment due to loose screws on the battery compartment. In some models, cable covers are also installed in the battery compartment. If one of these becomes loose, it can block the battery in the compartment.
For DIY-inclined users, there are repair options for the battery bracket.
In both cases, you have to try to open the battery cover mechanically. You can use a thin spatula or a screwdriver, with which you try to carefully pry open the compartment between the battery compartment rubber seal and the down tube.
