Li-ion batteries are basically a safe thing. However, this is not absolutely the case. This is shown by the relevant reports and videos on various platforms. However, you always have to put this in relation to the number of Li-ion batteries in circulation worldwide. The number of cell phones and laptops alone is probably in the billions.
Stromer batteries can also burn, even if the probability is very low and in this case there is a clear reason. The one in Battery shown on fire is a new BQ983 battery. This was preceded by a fall from a height of approx. 1 m. The front base was dented. The battery did not ignite immediately but only after 2 days, which is not untypical for battery fires.

Stromer offers a special cover for rechargeable batteries. The battery bag made of non-flammable material protects the battery during transportation, storage and charging outside the e-bike. It is suitable for all Stromer batteries except the BQ1440 (ST7).
Special features:
- Transportation, storage, cargo
- Heat-resistant materials and fabric combinations specially developed for the Stromer-AkkuSafe
- Materials are not flammable
- The outer materials can withstand temperatures of up to 400 °C for short periods, while the integrated stainless steel thread and the inner material can withstand temperatures of up to 1,200 °C
