Customers report that ST3-Pinion | ST5 ABS | ST7 (batches until Dec. 2023) occasionally have rust problems with the steering head bearing. There is also a problem with the steering behavior. Straight ahead everything is OK. If you want to turn left and right, a small resistance is noticeable. Drivers also speak of a kind of 'catching' and creaking noises.

Both problems are caused by the steering head bearing or the bearing shell. This has no drainage holes and the water accumulates in the bearing. Sooner or later, this leads to corrosion problems, i.e. rust. Batches built up to December 2023 are affected, after which the fault was rectified.

Stromer offers an update according to TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) 122 dated April 5, 2024. Defective bearings will be replaced under warranty. More details are available from the dealer.
Only creaky
If there is no rust and the handlebars creak, this is usually due to insufficient lubrication of the steering head bearings. Regreasing solves the problem.
