Care / cleaning of the Stromer

A lot of bearing damage (motor / bottom bracket...) but also defects in the Omni or controller are due to incorrect care. Among other things, high-pressure cleaners are used, but cleaning agents that are too 'harsh' are also used. This results in paint damage, damaged seals (Omni) or washing out of the bearing lubrication.

Stromer expressly recommends not using a high-pressure cleaner, steam jet or garden hose. The latter also has a pressure of up to 6 bar.

This is not how it should be done!

Clean properly: Take a bucket with a little washing-up liquid or bike cleaner, a sponge or washing glove, or a damp cloth for light soiling. Microfiber cloth. Squeeze the sponge lightly and use it to clean the really dirty areas in stages. Wash the sponge out regularly to avoid scratching the frame. You can also use a household brush for the tires. Dry with a microfiber cloth. For the shine use e.g. Muc-Off Miracle Shine polish.

Do not forget: When working on the Stromer, always switch it off, remove the battery and close the battery cover.

Speaking of closing the battery door...

This is not so easy with the models with an electromagnetic locking mechanism. The battery compartment can only be closed with the battery inserted. If the battery is removed for cleaning - as recommended - or if you want to charge the battery outside the Stromer, the flap cannot be closed. This is where a Strap with Velcro fastener.

For ST1X, ST2-old and ST2S-old, where the cover is opened with a mechanical key, there is the Battery dummy. It works not for ST1-old, ST1-new, ST2-new, ST3 or ST5, where the lid opens electrically with the push button.
