Display V1 / V1.1
The old Stromer ST1 / V1 / V1.1 had a display on the handlebars. Communication with the display is done physically via cable through a UART Rx/Tx interface on the display. New firmware must be manually uploaded by the Stromer dealer via this connection.

Omni SW & C
With the introduction of Omnis SW 2014, Stromer took new paths to update the software of the electronic components. This is done via a mobile connection using OTA (Over the Air). The prerequisite is that the Stromer is registered and thus connected to its own account.

OTAA new firmware update will be automatically downloaded (pushed) to the Stromer via an existing 2G, 3G, or 4G connection. A white circle will appear in Omni (Figure 6 below). It must then be installed manually.
PUSH: The customer has the option to manually request a firmware update through their dealer. The dealer then pushes the update via the Stromer service portal.
MANUAL SEARCH: With firmware version SUI 4.5.1.1 (12.12.2025), you can actively search for an update in Omni under MENU → SYSTEM → FW UPDATE. If an update is available, it can be downloaded and installed.
ROLLBACK: A rollback (installation of the previous version) of a Stromer FW update is possible. However, it must be initiated by the dealer through myStromer AG or manually uploaded via the USB port in the Omni.

Firmware configurations: SUI / CA
Es gibt zwei FW-Unterversionen. Stromer S-Pedelecs sind in der EU und Schweiz gesetzlich auf 45 km/h limitiert. In einzelnen Ländern, wie z. B. Canada, other regulations apply and the maximum permitted speed must be reduced to 32 km/h.
This throttling is achieved through a specific configuration in the firmware, which can be seen as activated «CA C1038» in the OMNI service menu under CONFIG.

What firmware version is installed?
The information is in Omni under: MENU → SYSTEM → ABOUT... Here, the individual components of the Stromer are listed: Controller, Battery, ABS, etc. The FW versions of the components differ from the SUI version, as the SUI has its own FW.
Installation / Download Status
If a firmware update is available, it will be automatically downloaded (pushed) to the Stromer. The download can be monitored in Omni under: MENU → SYSTEM → ABOUT (Image 2 below) … or by tapping the white circle icon → Info (Image 6 below).
If Autolock (Omni App → Configuration → Anti-theft) is deactivated, the Stromer goes into standby after 5 minutes. In this mode, a firmware download is paused. This can be prevented by, for example, pressing and holding a brake lever.
The installation is carried out manually in the following steps:

Manuelle Suche nach Updates und Installation
Ab der Firmwareversion SUI 4.5.1.1 (12.12.2025) ist es möglich aktiv nach einer neuen FW zu suchen. Stromer schreibt in den Release Notes:
Under MENU → SYSTEM → FW UPDATE, you can manually search for firmware updates in the Omni and download them via the OMNI if available. If there is no cellular connection, updates can be downloaded via Bluetooth tethering with a smartphone.
Omni B
The Omni B does not have OTA connectivity and therefore cannot receive new firmware via a cellular connection. However, updates are still possible via Bluetooth using the Omni BT app. As soon as a new software update is available for Stromer with OMNI Interface B, you will be notified accordingly in the Stromer OMNI BT app and informed about the next steps.
- Activate the Bluetooth hotspot in the smartphone in the system settings.
- Confirm the update on the Stromer. A confirmation dialog box should appear in the driving display.
- Keep your smartphone close to the Stromer during the update. It will take a few minutes to download and install the update.
- As soon as the update is confirmed for download, the smartphone loses the connection to the Stromer OMNI BT app, as the update is downloaded via a different Bluetooth operating mode. For the same reason, it is also possible that a pairing request must be confirmed again on the smartphone.
- On the OMNI Interface B display, the «Update Download» icon appears in the status bar at the top (white circle → Image 6 top). As soon as the update is ready for installation, this will be indicated by the «Update Ready» icon (red circle → Image 2 top). Tap the red circle and select «UPDATE» to install the update. Follow the instructions.
