Models with mechanical lock
- Remove the battery and check the contacts on the battery and in the battery compartment below for dirt particles. The plug connection is magnetic and the smallest metal particles may be deposited.
- Insert the battery again. If the Stromer still does not start, connect the charger to the Stromer and try again.
Models with electromagnetic battery lock
- Press the on/off button on the underside of the top tube for 15 seconds. This switches the Stromer off. Then restart the Stromer.
- Connect the charger to the Stromer:
- If the display shows 'BATTERY CHARGING', tap the battery symbol CHARGING STATE. You should now be asked whether the battery compartment should be opened. YES → Remove the battery and check the contacts (see info box above). Insert the battery and close the compartment with a little swing.
Update: With FW 4.4.1.2 (09-03-2023), a new 'EJECT' symbol was added to the charging screen. If you tap on it, the battery is unlocked and the battery compartment can be opened using the eject button. If Smartlock is active, the Omni PIN is requested first.
If no ejection is possible even then, it could be the following:- The magnetic switch or the spring of the closing mechanism in the battery compartment is broken. See PROBLEMS - Rechargeable battery, battery 'Broken battery ejector handle'.
- The battery is jammed in the compartment due to loose screws in the battery compartment or the cable covers, some of which are located there.
- If the Stromer starts but only shows a white display, press and hold this. If you are asked to open the battery compartment, confirm with YES. Carry out the cleaning procedure for the contacts (see info box above).
- If no query for opening the battery compartment appears under 2.1 / 2.2, try opening the compartment by pressing and holding the battery eject button on the top right of the down tube. If nothing happens there either, or the display goes black when the charging plug is disconnected, the Stromer must be taken to the dealer and the battery compartment opened mechanically (see emergency opening and tip below)
- If the display shows 'BATTERY CHARGING', tap the battery symbol CHARGING STATE. You should now be asked whether the battery compartment should be opened. YES → Remove the battery and check the contacts (see info box above). Insert the battery and close the compartment with a little swing.

ST7
The Stromer ST7 does not have a mechanical eject button on the top right of the down tube like the ST3 & 5 models, for example. To eject the battery, you have to press the EJECT symbol on the OMNI display. The battery is then unlocked. To open the flap, you must also pull the battery eject lever outwards.

Opening without battery and power?
How do I open the battery compartment of the ST7 if the battery is not inserted, the battery compartment is closed and the Stromer has no power?
The solution is simple, the battery compartment cover does not click into place when the battery compartment is empty, but remains unlocked and can be opened with the fingertips.
Emergency opening and tip
If the Stromer does not start even after working through the above points, you must go to the dealer. In order not to compromise the theft protection, the instructions for emergency opening of the battery compartment are not published here.
