Display in [%] or [km] - ?

In addition to the battery display in [%], Stromer also offers a display in remaining [km] in the Omni. In the Omni menu under BIKE > SETTINGS > BATTERY - 'State of charge'  the display can be selected in [%] or [km].

Accuracy [km]:

In the [km] variant, the OMNI displays the range that can probably be driven when it is switched on. It is based on an estimate based on the 'experience' of the OMNI in the past. The Omni attempts to use this to estimate the range for the future. The process is similar to that used in electric cars. Here too, the driving computer calculates a range estimate from various empirical and current measured values, such as the outside or battery temperature.

As we know, this is not very reliable. Only by driving does the estimated value approach the actual achievable range by taking into account the current driving parameters. This is also the case with the Omni:

For a more realistic range to be displayed, the electric vehicle must have experience, i.e. it must have been driven. If you roll out of the store with the new Stromer, the statement is not meaningful.

My practice:

The [km] display is too erratic for me. I've been driving my ST3 with the [%] display for 42,000 km. I now know very precisely whether I'm driving home or walking or if and when I need to reduce the assistance to drive home.
