Officially, in addition to the Brochure details Hardly any performance data for the Stromer motors regarding nominal power and torque are available. Only the label attached to the hub motors sometimes provides additional information.

Simulation tools

Grin Technologies offers on their website a Motor Simulation Tool Thus, the TDCM (Stromer motor) and various other components can be selected, and the motor performance curves can be simulated for the set values.

The TDCM DD (Direct Drive) was calculated using the example of an ST3.

Here a comparative simulation with different system weights and the TDMC IGH 395 rpm motor.

Since TDCM does not publish technical data, I have created a datasheet for the TDCM Syno Drive II using various fragments of information from the internet as well as my own experiences with the help of AI. The data is non-binding and based on an ST3 with derailleur gears.

Motor temperature development

Motor temperature is a crucial factor for the performance of a hub motor. Due to its construction, heat dissipation from the pole windings is difficult (air gap between rotor and stator). This reveals the system's limitations, especially with driving profiles involving longer and/or steeper inclines. At slower rotational speeds, the motor increasingly loses cooling capacity and runs the risk of thermally „suffocating“ (thermal runaway). Stromer prevents this with so-called Thermal Throttling – a reduction of support from the controller. With the tool „trip simulator“the temperature development can be simulated using corresponding characteristic data (nominal voltage, max. battery current, gradient, etc.).
