Problem
Warning W 210100 appears in the Omni, with the following text message:
"Battery voltage, battery voltage increased. Recovery not possible at present. Drive carefully, take reduced braking power into account".
Cause
This is a warning message. These are usually temporary in nature, meaning they will disappear either during the drive or at the latest after a restart.
In the vast majority of cases, the error occurs when regenerative braking (engine braking/energy recovery) is used while driving downhill, immediately after starting the descent and with the battery charged to 100%.
Since the battery is fully charged, it cannot absorb regenerative energy. The system voltage briefly exceeds the limit, and the system throttles the regenerative braking power for self-protection.
If the warning appears during normal driving, meaning not downhill and with recuperation, it can indicate a problem with one or more cells that have differing voltages compared to the rest of the battery pack. This is referred to as „cell drift.“.
Solution
Test the battery with the Battery SELF_CHECK. Possible error scenarios are also explained in this article.
If all checkpoints are OK and green, the battery (99%) is OK.
Otherwise, there could be a connection issue between the battery and the battery compartment socket, a problem with the ribbon cable, or in the worst case, „cell drift.“.
In the latter case, the battery must be sent to Stromer for inspection. In most cases, there is a battery defect and the battery must be replaced. An alternative is to equip the battery with new cells. However, this requires that the BMS still works and that the recycler can perform a reset of the SoH (State of Health) and the charge cycle counter.
