E 21041C | Battery does not charge

Problem

Battery is not charging. Charging indicator flashes or lights up red.

Cause

  • Charging current below 400 mA and SoC <90 %. This may be due to poor contact of the Rosenberger connector.
    • Charger plug > Charging socket in the top tube
    • Charger plug > Battery socket (battery outside the power supply)
    • Battery socket > Battery socket in battery compartment (battery in Stromer)
  • Rosenberger plugs and sockets are magnetic and attract the smallest metal particles. Dirt, water or corrosion can also be the cause.
  • A problem with the wiring, the charger or battery, the controller (MCU)
  • A problem with an external component (e.g. front light) due to a short circuit or defect

Solution

Check all Rosenberger plug connections and clean them with a lint-free cloth or compressed air. Do not use contact spray/grease or the 'all-purpose weapon' WD40 Multifunction Smart Straw.

If all contacts are OK and the battery is charging outside the Stromer, it is either due to the wiring of the Stromer (e.g. charging connection in the top tube / wicket cable) or a faulty component (controller, front light...).

If the battery does not charge outside the Stromer, the charger or the battery is defective. In the event of a possible battery defect (e.g. cell drift), the error W210100 usually appears in the Omni. Replace the charger and check whether charging now works. If yes, everything is OK. If not, check the battery with the battery SELF-CHECK.
