E 210002 | Charging not possible, battery compartment blocked

Error image

Error E 210002 appears after every restart. The battery compartment is blocked, charging is not possible.

Cause

E 210002 indicates a problem with communication on the CAN bus between the motor controller and the battery. The cause is often a contact or cable problem with the charging socket in the top of the down tube, the battery socket on the battery or in the battery compartment. There may also be a defect in the controller, the battery or both. Contact problems are often caused by moisture. This penetrates into the down tube/bottom bracket area, e.g. after a ride in the rain, a wash with a hose or high-pressure cleaner (both not recommended by Stromer) and causes corrosion of the contacts at the plug connections.

Solutions

  1. Connect the charger to the Stromer. The OMNI display should now start and the battery should be able to be ejected via the EJECT symbol.
  2. Another workaround for older Stromers with a mechanical battery lock is to remove the battery from the Stromer during operation and then reinsert it.
  3. In the event of possible moisture, it may help to allow the Stromer to dry and then see if the fault disappears.

As of firmware SUI FW 4.4.1.4 (9-03-2023), there is an EJECT symbol on the charging screen. Previously, you had to tap on the charge status display. The menu appeared (picture on the left) and the battery could be unlocked with YES.
