Usual things
The error can have various causes:
- Moisture where it shouldn't be, e.g., after a rainy drive or excessive washing.
- Short circuit in the system:
e.g. cables pinched or crushed in the steerer tube/head tube;
e.g. cable for the front lighting. - Motor controller, motor, motor cable connector, or cable in the bottom bracket area.
Test the following
- Disconnect the motor cable on the left chain stay from the bike electrics. Then go to the service menu and press 'Boost'. If the error no longer occurs, the motor is defective.
- Disconnect the three motor phase cables (blue/green/yellow) in the bottom bracket area. On almost all models, the down tube cover must be removed for this. Go back to the service menu and press ‚Boost‘. If the error persists, the controller (MCU) is defective.
- If the previous points do not provide a clear answer, it could be due to the cable or the plug connection between the motor and controller (MCU). The cable with the plug connection is located in the bottom bracket area.
Solutions
Motor plug: Check the screw connection(s) in the left chain stay for looseness and moisture (blow out with air, allow to dry)
Motor cable routing in the bottom bracket area: On older models, the connections of the 3 Motor cable not with shrink tubing protected. They were therefore susceptible to moisture entering the bottom bracket area via the horn opening when riding in the rain.
Checks / Tests: The SIT (System Integration Test) can be used to test Stromer components.

The exclusion procedure is basically described in the article. However, you can also specifically test the motor (phases, temperature and Hall sensors).

Hello,
How can I disconnect the motor cable from the electronics for testing purposes without an error code (E 210205) appearing immediately (which correctly indicates that there is currently a „problem“ with the motor cable)?
Or can I ignore this message and still test using „Boost“?
(if I do the latter and the previous error E 21020E does not also appear in the error list with the motor cable disconnected, does this mean that the motor is actually faulty?)
